Being a friend of Marine Conservation

Seal in the Cornish Seas by Paul Naylor
Urchins & Brittlestars by Paul Naylor

In many ways Cornwall is defined by it’s coast, after all it surrounds us on most sides. And naturally here at Frugi we love the sea, it provides food, inspiration, entertainment and stunning views. So of course we will do all we can to help look after our coastline and wildlife, it’s part of what makes Planet Frugi, and that includes supporting worthy causes. The Wildlife Trust is one such cause…

The Trust has been campaigning for better protection of our seas and the creation of Marine Conservation Zone’s (MCZ’s) for years. Sadly the MCZ network is under threat and needs your help to ensure marine wildlife has a voice and receives the best possible protection for the future.

If you are really passionate about our seas and want to be more involved in the Trust’s campaign for better protection, become a Friend of your zone! The Trust are looking for passionate and dedicated people to take a step up from just signing a petition, into someone who we can call on to be a supportive voice for their local sites, to contact their MP, write to the Minister and eventually give your personal views in our response to the consultation.

Check out The Wildlife Trusts’ website and find out more about the 127 recommended Marine Conservation Zones. Using the interactive map, you can find zones local to you and click through to a web page specific to that zone which contains fact sheets and other important information plus ‘sign up’ to become an official friend!
