We have some very exciting news!
We’ve been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, for International Trade! We’re absolutely bowled over, particularly as this makes us the first childrenswear brand to ever win a Queen’s Award.
Without wanting to sound like we’re boasting (well, maybe a little… ), this really is a special accolade, being the highest and most prestigious UK award given to a business. The award recognises companies that are pushing forward, reinvesting and working hard to champion UK business in the UK and abroad. As you can imagine, it’s highly competitive with hundreds of entries each year, so we can’t quite believe it!
We’ve been honoured with the International Trade award for our export sales growth over the last six years. We’ve grown quite massively and, you might not know this, but we currently sell our scrumptious clothes in around a whopping 50 countries. This has been made possible by having very talented multilingual staff and super-duper overseas stockists.
In these six years, the team here at Frugi has grown from eight to almost 50, to support both our International and UK sales. Not only does this growth mean that we’re able to employ lots of people down here in sunny Cornwall, but that we’re able to support more organic cotton growers, more garment factory workers and further support the environmental charities we give to through our 1% for the planet membership (where we give back 1% of our turnover). So, there are a lot of people and a lot of good causes that benefit from our growth. It sounds cheesy, but it gives us a nice warm feeling inside!
Hopefully you’ll agree that this isn’t half bad for a Cornish company that started off in a spare room? We hope that this award inspires more people to get out there and start their own businesses. We can’t promise that it won’t be a slog. But boy it can be worth it!
We couldn’t have got where we are today without all of you joining us on Planet Frugi though. So, humongous, massive thanks from Kurt and I, and all at Team Frugi. This really is the best present we could have ever hoped for on our tenth year.
