We all know that Cornish seafood is fabulous and really good for us, but knowing what fish to buy can be a complicated issue. Cornwall Wildlife Trust has tried to help by launching the Cornwall Good Seafood Guide earlier this year – www.cornwallgoodseafoodguide.org.uk. This innovative resource highlights what fish is ‘good’ to eat, highlights best practice within our local fishing industry and encourages people to buy Cornish.
Over the summer thousands of people have been able to discover Cornwall’s fantastic local seafood at festivals and events spanning the length and breadth of the county. And there are still plenty of opportunities to catch up with the team. Why not pop along to the Falmouth Oyster Festival, 8th-11th October and join in some fishy fun.
Local businesses are also getting involved and pledging to provide good Cornish seafood where possible in their restaurants and fish sales. Seafood business supporters are listed on the easy-to-use online directory so you can now find places to buy and eat sustainable seafood, wherever you are in Cornwall.
