We’re celebrating World Breastfeeding Week 2016. Time for some more reviews from our breastfeeding & antenatal groups from across the UK. No singing here… but some honest written reviews of our products after some rigorous mummy trials.
First up is Lucy from Bump to Breast in Penryn, who tried out our Roll Top Yoga Pants. She has toddler and is also currently 20 weeks pregnant, so was the perfect person to get to grips with items from our Bump to Breastfeeding collection.
I ordered a medium as I’m usually a size 10 fit for trousers and they were a comfortable fit although really long. I’m 5’11” so not exactly short but I did end up with wrinkly ankles. Hugely pleased that I didn’t get baggy knees though despite lots of sitting on the floor and crawling around after a toddler!
They were such a soft fabric and thanks to the roll top, incredibly comfortable around my rapidly growing bump.
The fabric is thick enough to be able to comfortably wear them alone with a t-shirt without showing off your pants! However, for regular day to day I prefer to wear leggings with a dress so I chose to pair them with my dungaree dress. As they are roll top you can choose to wear them ‘under bump’ or ‘over bump’. I wore as ‘under bump’ as this is generally my preferred style, however it’s totally personal preference. As ‘over bump’ they were a little baggy around the top but as bump gets bigger I would have easily grown into them.
I can imagine these being an absolute life saver outfit post-birth as they are so soft and comfy thanks to the 95% organic cotton.
The soft roll top would be ideal post c-section and with the option to wear them with the roll top ‘rolled up’ it provides a modesty panel for breastfeeding without having to wear a ton of layers. I did trial these on one of the hottest days of the year and can report that I still felt cool and comfortable.
I hand-washed these and line dried more due to time restraints than washing preferences and they washed really well, with no stretch or bagginess afterwards like a lot of other legging style trousers. I would say, like many other dark garments, to wash with similar colours for the first few washes as some dye did leak.”
Next we have Liz from Bumps, Babies and Beyond Dumfries and Galloway who reviewed our PJ Bottoms and Pointelle Pyjama Top. So Liz…what did you think?
“The Pointelle pyjama top is a beautifully designed feeding top. It has a discreet opening for feeding – ideal for those early days when you really don’t want to get dressed but have visitors keen to see the little one. The material is soft and cosy and the fit is generous while still being shaped. The design of the feeding opening and the blue detailing means it looks quite like a t-shirt rather than underwear.
On a practical note, I love the slots for breastpads; so much nicer than wearing a bra for bed or having to have an endless supply of muslins handy!
The PJ bottoms are made from organic jersey cotton which is like wearing a delicious hug! They are sooo soft – exactly what I looked for during my first pregnancy and couldn’t find. They’re hip-hugging then gently flared so extremely flattering.
When not pregnant, the bump band folds down into a stylish waistband.
The daisy design and contrasting blue is guaranteed to make you smile even after cluster feeding all night long! I’ve had a variation of the Henry Dacre song in my head all week – ‘Daisy, Daisy, on my pyjamas blue. I’m half crazy, all for the love of you!’”
Our final Frugi loving mama. Jen from London & South East Sling Social, has reviewed our Long Sleeve Dress at 30 weeks pregnant.
“In my opinion this dress doesn’t look like a typical maternity/breastfeeding dress. I have tried other BF tops from other brands & always found the material under the top to fold over therefore creating a bumpy looking chest. Not so with this dress! The breastfeeding panel under the top actually stretches over the boob as opposed to side access which I’ve never encountered before so this was a welcomed surprise.
There’s a lovely stretch for my 30 week bump, with room to grow. I would say it’s true to size & curious to see how it copes when I’ll be 35+ weeks. I’m not particularly large-chested but I would probably prefer a little more room. For someone who babywears a lot this dress was easy to wrap with – I didn’t have to readjust the dress and found it very comfy.
The neutral colour is complimentary to most mums and the design is flattering. As usual the Frugi organic material is so soft & lush and would totally buy this for myself or as a gift to any of my expecting friends.”
