Saving little lives!

Frugi customers are helping to save lives through our Little Clothes BIG change charity project!

One of our chosen charities this year is Little Life Savers, an inspirational charity initially set up by a doctor during the junior doctor strikes.

The charity provides free Lifesaving training in Schools, Clubs and Groups up and down the UK.

Little Lifesavers volunteers teach Basic Life Support (BLS) skills including Management of Choking Children/ Child Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Adult CPR and the Recovery Position to Children Aged 9 and above.

Frugi customers have recently donated an amazing £16,515.42 to help fund the set up of new groups and provide the charity with vital equipment.

It was recently announced that CPR will be added to the National Curriculum from March 2020! Kieran, a trustee at Little Life savers explains what this will mean for the charity;

Little Life Savers welcome the news that Basic Life Support Skills will be added to the National Curriculum and are confident that this will make a real difference to the chance of receiving bystander CPR for out of hospital cardiac arrest.

With over 25 teaching groups spread across the UK delivering Basic Life Support Skills Training to schools, clubs and societies free of charge and more being set up each month we will continue to offer the same level of training to Primary Schools which is over and above the requirements of the National Curriculum.

From our experience of training over 4,000 primary school children we believe that children from the age of 9 have the strength and aptitude to learn and deliver Basic Life Support Skills, perhaps more importantly if they are unable to deliver it themselves this vital training will have given them the confidence and knowledge to instruct a parent or bystander.

As of 2019/20 we will develop a new teaching model for Secondary Schools involving, CPR, Choking and the use of AED’s (Automated External Defibrillator) this will require a significant investment to resource all of our teaching groups with Training AED’s but we believe this is worthwhile. Our new Secondary School Teaching Model will be developed to meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum.

We look forward to creating even more Little Life Savers over the next few years.”
